REVIEW | Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15

Hello Everyone! Even though it's well into the autumn season, my skin still produces so much oil >.< If someone could just tell my skin to calm down and just be normal, that would be great. In the meantime, I've been using the Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 in an attempt to control my oiliness!

[Review] Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15

I have tried countless oil control products from powders and blotting sheets to gels to liquids. This Murad Oil-Control Mattifier* is clinically proven to reduce shine on contact and control oil for up to 8 hours while effectively reducing breakouts. It also provides UVA/UVB protection with SPF 15. It is step 3, intended to be used as a moisturizer in the Murad Acne regimen.

I've been using it for the past two-three weeks as a mattifier. I apply my moisturizer like normal and add this where I get the most oily--namely my T-zone. I find that it does keep my T-zone relatively oil free. I wouldn't say my skin looks matte but it isn't shiny as an oil slick like it usually is. My T-zone looks like a natural matte/satin finish. I don't think it lives up to the 8-hour claim, at least on my skin. Within 3-4 hours, I have to blot my face with powder or oil-absorbing sheets because I couldn't bear the shine on my face anymore.

It comes out very liquid-y, almost like the liquid glue that I used in arts and crafts in elementary school. The smell is similar to that glue as well, which is sort of troubling to me. It also has a slight tea tree oil smell too, which is probably what combats the breakouts. I'm not sure if that is true but I haven't broken out where I applied it.

Bottom Line: I wouldn't recommend it. I mean, if you want to, by all means. Price is a bit expensive at $39.50 for 1.7 ounce when it doesn't perform any better than my Rimmel powder or Palladio Rice Papers. If you are interested in trying this product out, you can find it at Murad, Sephora, and Ulta.

XOXO,
MWAH ♥
