MakeupForever is a brand known for its vibrant and long-lasting products that photograph beautifully. I have the MakeupForever Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in 0L. This eyeliner is no exception.

I love how black and pigmented this eyeliner is. You can vary the intensity by how hard or soft you line so I can get anywhere from a soft gray to a deep black with one swipe This pencil has not shimmers and is matte. Once set, which takes approximately 20-30 seconds, it does not budge! I have even applied it to my upper tightline to give a fuller lash effect and at the end of the day, I didn't have raccoon eyes! It's pretty water-resistant, considering these were designed for use in water ballet performers. When splashing the swatches on my hands with water, they didn't move. However, they did smear when I rubbed my wet hand, but I did rub it pretty hard. It comes in a variety of shades, 25 in total. There's also many finishes like matte, metallic, pearly, and iridescent.Dislikes:
The only one I can think of is the price. At $19 a pop, it is a little more than what I'm used to paying for my eyeliners but it works so well on my upper tightline that I am willing to repurchase. I've tried Tarte, Etude House, Maybelline, Revlon, Covergirl, ELF, and Rimmel yet none of those stay in my upper or lower waterline for more than an hour or two. Besides, using it only on my upper tightline will help the product last longer. This pencil isn't as creamy as other pencils I have tried but that probably adds to its longevity. Also, it doesn't skip or tug my eyelids when I apply so it does have some sort of gliding power. This pencil does require sharpening so you would have to get a separate sharpener. I prefer using these kinds of pencils because I can always get a sharp point every time and there isn't any build up of product on the pencil that could cause eye infections. One would still have to disinfect one's sharpeners still to prevent contamination between products, especially those that go near the eye or lips! You can also use it as a shadow or a shadow base but with the quick setting time and small pencil tip, that might be a bit difficult.Softly pressing (left), Pressing normally (middle), thicker swatch to show color and intensity (right) |
Bottom Line:
I will definitely repurchase! I love the long-lasting and pigmented formula. The texture isn't what I'm used to in terms of creaminess but that's something I could get used to as it makes it easier to sharpen without the tip breaking off every time. The price is a bit higher but I see this pencil lasting a very long time since I've been using it for a week now and the tip is still going strong! You can find yours at your local Sephora, which is the only official seller of MakeupForever products, I believe.
