Hey everyone! So this post is super long overdue but I've just been really busy settling back into the school grind. Just finished my second week of school and am already pulling all-nighters (╥﹏╥). Anyhoo, read on to find out my thoughts on the Lorac Unzipped Palette!
The packaging is a simple cardboard kind with a magnetic closure but the zipper design is really ingenious. It's very thin, easy for traveling. The mirror is also a nice, large size.
The names of the eyeshadows are so interesting because they all go with the theme of the palette. "Unzipped"sounds so liberating and the names of the eyeshadows reflect that as well. I never really pay attention to the names of my eyeshadow but whoever named them is really creative!
There are 4 matte shades and 6 shimmers. The mattes are Undercover, Unconditional, Unbridled, and Unspoken. The rest are shimmers but they aren't too much, perfect for every day use. They lean warm, which I think is very flattering on most skin tones. The shades are neutrals but there's a variety of them.
From left to right: Undercover (matte), Unbelievable (shimmer), Unattainable (shimmer), Unconditional (matte), Unbridled (matte) |
Unbelievable is a rose-y copper color. The shimmers make it a nice metallic finish. I love using it all over the lids for a simple look.
Unattainable is a bronze shade with shimmers.
Unconditional is a taupe with a slight pink undertone. If I use too much of it or alone all over the lid, it can make my eyelids look swollen. However, I love using it in my crease and outer corners to slightly define my eye for daytime.
Unbridled is a matte cocoa brown color. It's very warm and looks great in the crease. I like using it for a soft liner look close to my lashes.
From left to right: Undiscovered (shimmer), Unreal (shimmer), Uncensored (shimmer), Unspoken (matte), Untamed (shimmer) |
Undiscovered a nice pale, warm gold.
Unreal is a shimmery champagne color. This is my favorite shade in the entire palette because it brightens my eyes when I layer a wash over my eyelids. It is also really pretty just in the inner corner.
Uncensored is a warm medium brown color. I haven't really used this shade much because I prefer my shimmer shades to be lighter.
Unspoken is a matte neutral brown color. I like using this in the crease when I want a bit of added definition without going overboard.
Lastly, Untamed is a dark burgundy brown color. It's described as a shimmer and while it does contain shimmer, it doesn't really come off as shimmery on the eyes. It's more on the matte side, in my opinion.

The shades are really beautiful! Neutral shades are a dime a dozen but the ones in this palette cover all the basic shades like the coppers, golds, and taupes beautifully. They are very pigmented and buttery feeling for the most part, even the mattes. There is no fallout with these shadows, which is surprising since they are so soft and silky.
I tend to wear one eyeshadow all over my eyes so 4 of them are perfect for that (Unbelievable, Unattainable, Undiscovered, and Unreal). If I feel a little bit fancy, I'll add Unconditional or Unspoken in the crease. Sometimes, I'll add Unbridled or Untamed in the outer corners or as a liner for some extra pizzazz. The only shade I haven't really used is Undercover but I don't really have a use for a matte vanilla color since I like to highlight with a shimmery color.
The shimmer shades aren't so shimmery that it makes it unsuitable for day time (there aren't any rules when it comes to makeup, but for me personally, I like subtle makeup) so that's a huge plus for me. The mattes are on the darker side which totally suits my preference. There's enough variety in the matte shades that I can use all mattes for a look or all shimmer if I so desire.
Dislikes:
There isn't really anything bad other than Untamed. I found it to be chalky and not very pigmented. The rest of the eyeshadows were pigmented and soft but that one was a let down.Bottom Line:
Needless to say, I love this palette! Even though I don't wear eyeshadow everyday, when I do, I gravitate towards this palette. There is a variety of shades, making it versatile. Whenever I travel, this is the palette that comes along with me. I can do simple every day looks and add a bit more drama for nighttime. It's not often I come across a palette where I can (and do!) use all of the shades included! I definitely would recommend picking this palette up if you are looking for a neutrals palette for every day use!
Here's a look I created using this palette, along with a few other items :)
MWAH Musings ♥
- Had Korean bbq with my brothers and best friend today after a failed sushi attempt. Am so full and had to eat dinner two hours later. So full that I cannot sleep lol.
- Just got my grades for the semester. Not the best but not the worst either. Just glad to have made it through.
- Still cannot find my journal. Don't want to shell out for one. Wah.
XOXO,
