FIRST IMPRESSIONS | Tony Moly DR. Tony Ac Control Acne Cleansing Foam
It's another skincare item and this time, I have the Tony Moly AC Control Acne Cleansing Foam up for discussion.

This cream cleanser* claims to prevent acne by removing the bacteria that causes acne and control sebum production to prevent clogged pores. You are supposed to lather this up in your hand, creating foam. Rub this all over your face and then rinse with warm water. Do this twice a day, once in the morning and once at night to achieve clearer looking skin.

Likes:

I felt that it really did clean my skin. I felt oily before but after cleansing, it really did clean up all the gross yucky stuff on my face, leaving it feeling clean. There isn't a detectable scent or any color (it is marketed for men so that explains the utilitarian and no-frills packaging common to products targeted at women).

Dislikes:

I feel that while my skin felt clean, it stripped my face of moisture. When I rubbed the cleanser through my fingers, I got that soapy feeling from hospital soaps, the really strong kind, which probably explains why my face felt so dry afterwards. A big no-no for me is that this product includes triclosan. Yeah you read that right, TRICLOSAN, the stuff that can disrupt your endocrine system as it can be absorbed into the bloodstream. It's pretty scary stuff and you can read about it here. Even though the FDA says it's okay to use it (EPA is under pressure to review and possibly revise, its original standpoint), I'd rather err on the side of caution and not have it in my products.

Bottom Line:

I will definitely not be purchasing this product. Even if it didn't contain triclosan, I feel like it stripped my skin too much. I don't have the oilest skin type (more oily/normal in summer, normal/dry in winter), so this product isn't suited for my skin in the first place. I would highly discourage you from using it but as always, it's up to you to make the final decision. There are better cleansers out there that you know, don't mess with your thyroid and cause environmental harm.

So that's it for this post! It was a bit short but I hope you all got something out of it. I want to know: what's your favorite cleanser?

XOXO,
