Cover FX Custom Cover Drops
If you're anything like me, you've got a couple foundations sitting there, unused and unloved because the color was off. I've tried a few methods to salvage my foundations and you can check out one method in my DIY Foundation post. But if you want to be a little fancy, the Cover FX Custom Cover Drops can do that and more!

{THE BREAKDOWN}

A jack of all trades, the Custom Cover Drops can be added to any base to create your custom face product. Like the texture of your moisturizer but it offers no coverage?Want to amp up the coverage of an existing foundation? With a couple of drops, you can adjust the coverage of any foundation!

The bottle looks smaller in person and then i realized it was only half an ounce. Packaging is a glass bottle that makes me nervous about traveling with it but the glass feels thick. The opaque black bottle helps protect the product inside and the clear tear drop reveals the color inside, very helpful. The dropper dispenses about 3 drops at a time so you don't need to worry about getting too much product at a time. I've forgotten to tighten the top and had the bottle fall on its side but fortunately, nothing spilled out! Happened twice now but I'm not going to test my luck any further...

Now how does this work? The ingredients list only has the key ingredients, making me wonder what else is in the formulation. From what I understand, it's a silicone-based liquid dispensed through a dropper that can be combined with liquid products. The consistency is quite watery but don't be fooled; it's quite pigmented. It's not meant to be used on its own. The beauty of the product is since it can be mixed with any liquid product, it will retain the properties of the base but add color to transform it into the perfect foundation! If you like your mattifying primer but wish it came in a foundation form, adding a couple of drops will fulfill those wishes. I've mixed it with my sunscreen, primer and other foundations to good results. I didn't get uneven patches of color if I blended the two products well. Didn't take much work, too be honest. Two to four drops seem to be perfect for my medium to full coverage tastes.

My favorite way to use this product is with my foundations. I bought it in shade G40 which is a shade darker than what I need. I have several foundations that I bought for winter when I'm lighter that I still want to use during the summer when I gain a tan no matter how much sunscreen I apply. Below, I mixed it with my MUFE HD Foundation in a 1 pump foundation:1 drop of CCD ratio. Note, choose your close shade match if you intend to mix with your primer or moisturizer but a shade darker if you intend to mix with mineral sunscreen or a lighter foundation.

I appreciate that Cover FX labels their face products by undertone (G for golden, N for neutral and P for pink) and then by shade (10 as lightest and 110 as darkest)  for easy color match online. It comes in 24 shades, making it easy to find your perfect shade.

I hadn't worn makeup in over two weeks! With the moving, getting sick and family issues, there was no time for frivolous activities. Putting makeup on felt so nice and relaxing. My skin's been acting up these past weeks due to hormones and stress, making it the perfect time for a foundation post. This is the second attempt to accurately photograph the foundation combo as the first time's pictures came out super blurry to the point that editing couldn't save. I prefer natural lighting for photography but my current situation makes that a bit difficult. I've tried my best to color correct the photos but if they aren't up to my usual standard, I apologize in advance. I'll take advantage of natural lighting when I can but for now, we'll have to make do with what I got.

{THE BOTTOM LINE}

I highly recommend this product! Some complaints I've seen was the price per ounce--$44usd for 0.5oz ($88usd per oz). But since I only use 1-2 drops daily  (3-4 if I need fuller coverage/working with a clear primer), this product will last an extremely long time. I've also seen grumbling about the consistency but I would try it with a foundation instead. Since it's just pigment, it doesn't offer mattifying or moisturizing properties on its own. It's great that a product like this has made it to the mainstream market and I can see myself repurchasing  (not anytime soon though, haha).
