Spring is my second favorite season because I love rainy days. My friends think I'm crazy but I love the cozy feeling of being indoors, curled up with a huge blanket and sipping on some warm tea or chocolate, listening to the pitter pattering of raindrops on my window. Since there's a lot of rain, the humidity makes makeup feel heavier than usual and can make mascara run. I have two looks that I've been wearing a whole ton this season. I'll walk you through the products for each look below!

{FIRST LOOK: SIMPLE AND LIGHT}

The first look is one that I wear the most since everything is multipurpose or in stick form. I usually wear a tinted moisturizer for both the hydration and the light coverage. I forgot to photograph it but I've been alternating between the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (unboxing) in Nude and the Nars Radiant Tinted Moisturizer in St. Moritz. The LM matches me better right now so it's my go-to when I don't have a lot of time. Once the base is done, I use the Benefit Fake Up Concealer  in Medium. With the stick form and hydrating circle, swiping it on saves a lot of time and eliminates the eye cream step. All about the multi-tasking purpose, the Revlon Highlighting Palette in Rose Glow combines highlighter and blush into one step. The pigment is lacking but with three layers, I get enough color on my cheeks without being a glittery disco ball. Not for the people with texture issues on their cheeks. Even though I love spring, my allergies come out in full force so I skip all eye makeup except mascara. Besides, the less makeup up I have on, the less likely it will smudge off in the rain! I really like the Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara (unboxing) because it gives me length and holds my curl without smudging like no one's business. Not that it's completely budge proof but it does the trick on my good allergy days. When I leave my eyes bare, defined and groomed brows is a must! I can't forget my lips and my go-to this spring is the Maybelline Color Whisper in Rose of Attraction (mislabelled below).

{SECOND LOOK: BOLD YET NATURAL}

The second look is when I have a bit more time to apply makeup or when I need to look extra polished. The tinted moisturizer, mascara and brows remain the same in this look but I amped up the pigmentation of everything. Sticking with the rosy theme, I like the Tarte Cheek Stain (review) in Flush. It mimics the color of my cheeks when I get embarrassed but I get to control where I blush, hehe. The gel blush already has some dewiness to it but I enhance it with the Benefit High Beam to compensate for the lack of eye makeup. For the lips, I love the color and longevity of the Rimmel Provocalips (review) in I'll Call You. It brightens my face yet doesn't look stark against the light makeup. For my undereyes, I will use the Skinfood Salmon Dark Circle Concealer Cream (review) in 02 Blooming Beige. It covers my dark circles well and adds a lot of brightness to the area. The look below shows the items in the second look at work. :)

That concludes my very simple Spring Beauty look! Most of the FOTDs I've written for this blog are a bit bolder than what I normally wear in my day to day life. There are days when I go the full 9 yards but most days, I just want to look less zombie and spend the least amount of time on my makeup possible.

I'd love to know what you all are sporting this Spring!
Do you follow the trends or are you a "march to the beat of your own drums" kind of person?

XOXO,

  • I'm bringing this section back! As I was going back through my blog, I loved reading the little tidbits I wrote here. I don't keep a daily diary so it reminds me of what was happening in my life at the time. This may not interest everybody but I'd like to keep track of what goes on in my life so I can look back and laugh, hehe.
  • It's Mother's Day here in the U.S. today. I'm sad that I can't be with my mom today but I'll be seeing her in a week!
  • My roommate made Oreo Truffles today! There's plenty of recipes out there on the interwebz but we use Oreos (duh), cream cheese, and melted chocolate for the shell.
Yum yum! courtesy of the roommate :D
