I have never really used creams for my skin because it is on the oilier side and doesn't need the extra moisture. However, my skin reacted badly to a scrub that I had bee using, becoming red, sensitive to the touch, and really dry. In a panic, I went onto Ulta's website and found these creams for day and night. I've been using these for almost a year now and have not looked back :D
The Retinol Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Day Cream is the first cream I have ever used. I felt like it really helped with my dry areas on my skin and soothed it immensely. Within a week of using it, my irritated skin returned back to normal. Now, I use it only on my driest or flakey areas when I need to because I find that it makes my face oily throughout the day. I like that it has SPF 20 which is good for every day use.
They say you can use this under makeup and I find that it does absorb quickly into my skin. It makes my foundation go over my dry spots a lot smoother and helps keep my skin looking hydrated. It has Retionol in the form of Retinyl Palmitate, which is another form of Vitamin A. I've been reading that it isn't good to have Vitamin A in products intended for day use but that is still being disputed. You can read more about that here. I haven't really seen any other skincare benefits but I hear it is great for wrinkles, which I don't have to deal with hopefully, for another couple of decades.
I remember it having a weird scent but it has either dissipated because I've had it for a year or my nose has become used to it.
I think the star of this line is the Retinol Night Cream! I've been using it constantly for this past year and am on my last few days with it. I haven't used many night creams before so I don't have a lot to compare this to but it fits my needs. It is easy to rub into the skin and is easily absorbed without leaving an oily residue. When my skin is particularly dry and dull, I apply this all over, go to bed, and wake up the next morning with luminous and hydrated skin. I definitely notice a difference in my skin when I don't use this product. I'm trying out other night creams right now but I would repurchase this if I didn't have other ones to use up! Again, I don't have fine lines or wrinkles (fingers crossed!) so I can't say how well it performs for those purposes but it does a great job of keeping skin hydrated and soft. Even though it is pretty thick (being a cream and all), it has not caused me to break out or aggravate any current breakouts, which is pretty good in my book! I don't have sensitive skin, so I would take caution if yours is.
Overall, I think these creams are great! They last a really long time and do the job well! I would definitely repurchase the Night Cream because it really helps my skin look radiant and moisturized the morning after. The Day Cream is okay--I find that it causes my face to become more oily throughout the day so it might be a little too rich for me. I use it only on dry sections on my skin to keep it from becoming heavy on my oily sections. Ulta is having a sale on these products for $14.99 each; you can pick up the Day Cream here and the Night Cream here.
*Update 10/06/14*: A reader of mine asked me if these products are animal tested and I'm relieved to answer that Skincare L de L Cosmetics products are NOT animal tested! They even go a step further and ensure that the raw materials vendors are also under strict certification that they too do NOT test on animals. So if that is a major concern for all you beauty conscious readers, you may now rest assured.
XOXO,
