It's been a looong minute since my last tag post. Since this month has been lip month, I decided that this tag would fit right in with the whole lippie theme. I wasn't actually tagged but that doesn't mean one can't do it...right? (≧◡≦) Anyhoo, here are my top picks for lipsticks :D I'm going to try to keep it short but we all know how I like to ramble by now. ≧◡≦ I first saw it on Rae of Scatterbrainitures so head on over there to see her picks as well!

If we are strictly counting only the traditional, swivel up tube kind, I have 12 (excluding some that I plan to give away or throw out). I'm not a huge lipstick fan as I prefer long-wearing formulas over comfort. Lately, however, lipstick has been more favorable because my lips are kind of dry and I don't want to emphasize that with my beloved lip stains.
What was the first lipstick you owned?
Way back in the day (more like 5 years ago, really), I bought the Wet n Wild Megalast Lip Color in 901B Think Pink. I just got into Kpop and loved the pink-y nude lips they had and so I picked this one up (I was in high school and had a limited budget and besides, how can you pass up $2 USD lipstick?!?!). I really did not like this lipstick at all. It was dry and chalky, skipped on the lips and had some weird balls of pigment that would roll off when I tried applying it. I kept trying to work with it but the balls of pigment never ceased so I retired this to my makeup graveyard immediately. Plus, the color didn't really work with my yellow toned, medium skin color (still doesn't look all that good now on my light-medium skin color). Not wanting to waste product, I decided to repurpose it into a matte cream blush and while it isn't perfect, it beats using it as a lipstick!
What is your favorite finish?
Hands down, MATTE. My aversion to anything that is glossy , shimmery, or glittery makes it quite hard (or easy on the wallet?) for me to find lip products to wear. I just like how pigmented and long wearing matte finish lipstick lasts, especially since lipsticks don't last very long anyway. Recently, I've been gravitating toward satin and cream finishes. However, one that I know I will never like is frost or anything glittery. *Shudders*
What is your favorite lipstick brand?
I recently started branching into lipstick so I don't really have an exact, all time favorite. If I had to pick one from the brands I've tried so far, I gotta give it to Rimmel London. Most of the products I've tried from them have been hits so far and the lipsticks aren't any different. The Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipsticks in 104 and 109 are pigmented, matte yet comfortable. I love 104 for every day and 109 when I want a bright, red orange lipstick. Airy Fairy is a cult favorite and I'm so glad I was able to track it down. I was in a nude lippie moment last month and this was perfect for my pink eyeshadow looks. The best part is that they are less than $5 USD each so I don't feel bad collecting them!

I haven't been much of a lipstick wearer in the past. Currently, I haven't been wearing my traditional lipsticks much.However, I've been in love with my Bobbi Brown Art Sticks for the last few weeks! I first heard about them from Shari on The Misty Mom where she reviewed the shade Electric Pink. When Shari loves something, that means I have to give it a try. Naturally, I picked up Electric Pink first. After loving Electric Pink so much, I picked up Dusty Pink for every day and Bright Raspberry for nighttime. I will definitely have a review on these awesome lip colors soon!

The last actual lipstick I bought was the BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Speak Your Mind. It's not a shade I normally gravitate towards but the bubblegum pink works for my yellow-toned, light medium skin color. I got in a sample size from a Sephora order a while back. I took it with me on my visit back home since it was small and easy to travel with and haven't put it down since. When I thought that I had lost the little guy, I was heartbroken. Rather than go without it, I immediately went to Sephora and bought the full size. I actually found my mini-size recently when I was cleaning out my makeup bag but I'm still happy I bought the full size! Now I can have one for at home and one for when I travel. The packaging on it is quite unique. At first, I had no idea how to open it but then I remembered Lizzy from WhatWouldLizzyDo opening one in her May Ipsy Bag and a light bulb went off in my head (thanks to Lizzy for helping me open my lipstick LOL #YoutubeGuruPowers). The lipstick is quite weighty and luxurious looking. There's a round silver lever you have to pull downwards to release the lipstick casing. Remember to push the lipstick casing all the way up until you hear a solid click to make sure it is securely locked into place. I made the mistake of not doing that and you can imagine my mini heart attack when it fell back out on the floor (luckily, the lipstick bullet wasn't ruined or anything).

Right now, two (since I'm not going out today). I'm really good at cleaning out my bag every time I come home. I just like putting my lip products back into my makeup storage so that it'll be there when I need it next. I change up my lip color every day so I grab a new one before I head out. I always have a lip balm to moisturize my lips, the actual lip color I'm wearing for the day, and a Lioele L'cret Miracle Magic Lipstick. The Lioele lipstick is insurance for those days when I forget to bring a lip color with me or don't have time to pick one. It's more of a balmy tint that you can build up if you so desire. I'm not sure if it's just my lips but all of the lipsticks pretty much turn into a bright pink on my lips. The color suits me thankfully but I wish it did change into the color they are supposed to be. I have five of them so I put them into two of my emergency kit bags, one in my travel makeup bag, one at home, and a spare in storage.

How do you store your lipsticks?
My mom got me this tiny set of drawers with 3 compartments that sits on my desk. It used to hold my entire makeup collection. This year, I have so much overflow that I had to get another 2 set of drawers (smaller than the one I have on my desk) to contain everything and even then it's not enough.
Going back on topic, my most used lie in one compartment in my desk drawer. The ones I'm currently testing sit in a makeup bag and the ones I wear more in the Fall or Winter sit in one of the new drawers I recently got.
I organize by formula (lip gloss, lip stain/balm, chubby lip pencil, lipstick). Then within each compartment (formula-wise), I organize by brand and then by color, going from lightest to darkest (left to right).
Which lipsticks are you currently lusting after?
After doing this tag and looking at what I have, I don't think I'm getting any new ones anytime soon. However, the ones I've been eyeing for a while are

I even cleaned some out for a possible future blog sale or giveaway but I feel bad about giving away products I've used before. I'm not sure what's a good alternative to throwing them out (because I'm not going to use them anymore) since I don't have friends or cousins who like makeup or else I'd let them have at it. I've heard about donating them to a woman's shelter but there aren't any close by where I live (kind of limited to public transportation since I'm at university). Tell what y'all think down below!
