The light pink color of the Dreamtone in 2* brightened my skin noticeably without the use of large glitters and shimmers. I could see silvery shimmers in the product but when I applied it, it did not show on my skin, which is really good since I was using this on areas that I get oily (and tend to break out most in).
Dislikes
As previously mentioned, it comes in 3 formulas, each targeted at a different skin tone. You can check the website here for more information on that. I feel that the 3 formulas are a bit excessive and gimmicky; for example, the medium (2) formula is supposed to target dark spots, uneven skin tone, and sallowness. However, I also suffer from redness and acne and blemish marks, which are unique to formula 1 and 3, respectively. Does this mean that I should get the 3 or the 2 instead? Besides that, the first 2 claims of each formula are exactly the same; all three promise to target dark spots and uneven skin tone, which makes me think that this "Color Correction specific to your skin tone" is kind of BS.
Checking the ingredients list, I couldn't really find a difference in formulation between the 3 (correct me if I'm wrong). Here it is below for you to view:
I see a couple of potential irritants in this product, like alcohol denat and fragrance. Even though fragrance is listed at the end of the list, I could definitely smell in on my face still after I applied it (and so could my brother when he was sitting next to me). He does have a sensitive nose though so that might not be the case for everyone. I however, have a weak nose yet I could still smell the synthetic, sickly, sweet smell of this product. Alcohol denat isn't something that should be in beauty products, especially skincare products because they compromise the skin's barrier.
After using it consistently for a week, I didn't really notice any difference in my skin tone. Maybe my sample is different from the actual product or I didn't have enough to test it out for longer, but even when I was using my Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Corrector, I noticed a slight difference in my dark spots within a week! At almost $100 USD, I expected a lot more from this product.
Bottom Line
I'd say to skip out on this product. I did not see any difference in my skin with a week's worth of application. The brightness must've been due to the silvery shimmers in the formula not because of some actual skin lightening ingredient. I'd take my money and buy the Garnier Dark Spot Corrector instead as that has worked wonders for my light medium skin tone. Have you tried this product? If so, did it work better for you? If you have tried other dark spot correctors that worked or didn't work, please tell me down below!
