DE-STASHING PROJECT┊ ☮ May 2014☮

Real Talk De-Stashing Project

I've been accumulating so much makeup lately that it's insane. My box that used to hold everything is so packed right now and so are my desk drawers and cubby that I have. Inspired by Rae of Scatteredbraintures, I've decided to embark on my own De-Stashing Project. I've decided to get rid of products I don't use anymore, haven't ever touched, or didn't like when I first used it. I've already started by giving away make up to my friends. You'll see that I've been having giveaways to flush more things from my collection that I have repeats of or just didn't like the color of. Of course, the items I give away to you, dear readers, haven't been opened or used. ≧◠◡◠≦

I have such a pack-rat tendency and tend to hoard things, saving them for future use but by the looks of things, I'll have enough makeup for the rest of my life, it seems! It's been really difficult to give away my precious babies but I know they'll get good use and love from someone else. (╥﹏╥)

I'll continually update with new posts as I give away and get rid of more things--hopefully, I can get rid of things faster than I buy more, but I'm hoping to slow down my consumerist nature as well. >.< Without further ado, I list below what I've sent to new homes and greener pastures. (─‿‿─)

  • Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch--I got this in a set with a colorless one in Quenched. Now I actually really, really like the Baby Lips formula but this bright, cool toned Barbie Pink is definitely not the kind of color I like to wear. I feel that it clashes too much with my very yellow undertone, making me look sallow, which no one wants to be. Sitting abandoned in my lip product bag, I decided to pass it on to my friend who has a thing for these colors and pulls it off much better than I ever could :D
  • L'Oreal True Match Makeup in W1--When I was first venturing out into wearing foundation, I didn't really know much about color matching. I just chose a random one from the drugstore without considering undertones and the like. After I started getting more into foundation (and getting paler from the wintertime), I realized that my foundation was too dark for me. I bought this to mix with that foundation to create a color that would match better, which worked for a certain amount of time, but then became such a burden for everyday practicalness. Sitting untouched for about 10 months, I decided to give it to a friend who misplaced her makeup bag and needed a quick fix. What did I do with that darker foundation? Since making the switch to wearing a mineral sunscreen, I get  an unseemly white cast. Wearing the darker foundation on top makes me look less like I applied flour to my face and more like a normal person, so win-win for everybody!
  • L'Oreal Color Riche Balm in Come to My Window (LE)--This was a bit of an impulse buy as it was LE but this pink color just doesn't mesh well with my skin tone. I tend to stay away from pinks unless they are more on the mauve or fuchsia side so I should've known better. The formula was moisturizing and glossy with just a hint of color. This just made my lips pale and my complexion like that of a zombie. My friend quite enjoys it and she definitely looks a lot better than I do. I have two other colors from this collection that I haven't touched since getting them but I might be more interested in wearing the purple one since purple lips are the rage right now and the other one looks really cool when paired with a Revlon Balm Stain I have. Not going to part with those two yet but I might in the future...
  • elf Nail Polishes--elf makes my favorite brand of polishes because they come in a variety of colors and are quite wallet- and travel-friendly. I bought some sets as I found they are better value but the sets overlapped quite a bit. Instead of hoarding the color for myself, I decided to hold a giveaway. *Spoiler Alert!* I have another set of these and a China Glaze color I also want to give away but I'm going to be hold that giveaway sometime in June methinks as two back-to-back nail giveaways might be overkill... I've also given two baby pink shades to my friend since she loves those kinds of colors. Needless to say, she loves the formula just as much as I do as they are quick drying and opaque in two coats or less!
So that's all the products for May that I've managed to part with. I have some other things, namely eyeshadow palettes, that haven't seen the light of day for quite some time now that have been used maybe once or twice that I'd like to get rid of but none of my friends want to take them. Would you all be interested in a blog sale or a giveaway of these items? I feel bad for selling or giving away products that I've used to people but I don't want to hold onto them, hoping I'll use them some day.

XOXO,
MWAH ♥
