REVIEW | Tresemme Moisture Rich Conditioner

Conditioner is something I'm just getting into (as my mom used to think it made your hair fall out). I was looking for something to help my hair feel soft, reduce static, and stop split ends. Read on to find out if it works!

--At A Glance--
The Tresemme Moisture Rich Conditioner* is formulated to deliver optimized hydration that targets dryness, locking in the moisture. The star ingredient seems to be Vitamin E, which is an antioxidant that can help regrow hair.  This conditioner is marketed for those with dry or damaged hair and can be used daily.

--The Ingredients--
Water , Cetearyl Alcohol , Dimethicone , Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine , Behentrimonium Chloride , Tocopheryl Acetate , Ascorbic Acid , Panthenol , Niacinamide , Biotin , Fragrance , Dipropylene Glycol , Lactic Acid , Potassium Chloride , Amodimethicone , Disodium EDTA , DMDM Hydantoin , PEG-7 Propylheptyl Ether , Cetrimonium Chloride , Polysorbate 20 , PEG-150 Distearate , Methylchloroisothiazolinone , Methylisothiazolinone

--The Breakdown--
I actually got the travel size from my cousin, but the full size retails for $4.59 USD for 32 fl oz at Walgreens. That comes to about $0.14 USD for 1 fl oz.

--The Good--
I feel like it makes my hair softer to the touch.  Using this was helping my ends feel less dry. It didn't make my hair greasy after a few hours either, which is nice. I have oily, fine and thin hair so it's hard to find something that moisturizes without weighing my hair down.

This conditioner has a nice scent as well, though it doesn't linger for long. The scent is sweet and clean.

The packaging is standard though the words have started rubbing off. The plastic isn't hard to squeeze and the product isn't thick either, making the dispensing easy.

--The Bad--
Looking at the ingredients lists, Vitamin E, in the form of tocopheryl acetate, is listed as the sixth ingredient. In many hair products, the first 4 products after water (or 5, including water) are the ingredients in high enough quantities to do something to your hair. Since it's the 6th ingredient, I doubt there's enough to make a difference. I see two silicones, amodimethicone and dimethicone, the latter being listed as the third ingredient. Silicones are just a temporary fix and may cause long term damage by coating the hair shaft and preventing water and other beneficial ingredients from coming in. Amodimethicone can be really hard to remove from the hair and cause product build up that will weigh down hair.

--Bottom Line--
I'm not sure if I would recommend this product. It's nothing special but I think it works, at least temporarily. I've been using it on and off for 4 months but I haven't noticed a dramatic difference in the softness and shine in my hair when I do and when I don't use it. This conditioner is affordable but the ingredients list is problematic. I'm going to keep using it until I finish the bottle and see if my opinion changes. You'll see an update in an empties post or something. :)

MWAH Musings ♥
  • There's going to be a pokemon hunt at my school today in a couple of hours. I put sunscreen on with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide and my face is super white. However, physical sunscreens keep my face matte when I'm running around and I feel that it does a better job of preventing sunburns when I'm outside for longer periods of time compared to chemical sunscreens. I like to add a darker foundation on top to offset the whiteness of my face.

  • Bought some Paula's Choice products to help with my crazy acne that I've been experiencing for the past 2 weeks but now its calmed down a lot before I even got to fully test the products. I might just keep using it and see how it does with all the pimples I have that are stuck under the skin--I have a killer one waiting to erupt right now but it hasn't come to a head yet. I'm hoping that it will just be calm until after my banquet but I don't have that kind of luck ,_,
