REVIEW| Vincent Longo Perfect Shine Lip Gloss

Hey everyone! I'm sorry that this post is late but here it is now. I've had these glosses for forever and now am ready to talk more about then. Let's dive into the review now!

REVIEW| Vincent Longo Perfect Shine Lip Gloss, venezia red, cherros

The Vincent Longo Perfect Shine Lip Gloss promises an intense shine without compromising color payoff. It also claims to have a soft, cushiony texture while gliding effortlessly over the lips.

The beneficial ingredients included in this lip gloss are:

  • Aloe Vera and Vitamin E moisturize and condition the lips.
  • Vanilla extract adds a beautiful fragrance.
  • Pure Color shades have a hint of color plus crystal clear shine.
  • Pearl Shimmer shades have micro pearl adding a bit of sparkle to the shine.

Application

To prevent the lipgloss from migrating, they recommend prepping your lip with a lip stain or a lip pencil first. I didn't want to do that because I wanted to see how long they lasted on my lips without any product and to see color payoff.

The applicator for this is the typical doe foot wand. I didn't have any problems applying this gloss to my lips and it took two dips to completely cover my lips. Reapplying it throughout the day isn't hard as the doe foot wand is small enough for my lips and doesn't deposit heaps of gloss on my lips.

Likes

I personally do not like the scent of vanilla in my products and this did say that it had vanilla extracts in it (which I completely missed, so it's more of my fault) so it is true to its word. The scent is pleasant enough and reminds me of cookies and Coffeemate's vanilla coffee creamer for some reason. It is a bit gloopy but not sticky, which is the main thing I look for in my gloss.

There has to be some tackiness for it to last for a long time, which I think this gloss does pretty well. Keep in mind that it is a gloss so it won't last all day, but if I don't eat or drink anything, the color lasts for about 4 hours and the moisture lasts for around 5 before I feel the need to reapply. Of course, after eating or drinking something, the gloss will wear off but I can feel just a bit of moisture left. The shine is nice without being too much. I personally prefer matte or satin lip textures but I'm slowly getting used to lip gloss. I definitely love my matte lipsticks but I like how I don't have to exfoliate beforehand or worry about bringing a lip balm along.

The packaging is very sleek and high end feeling, if that makes any sense. I like the square tube because it doesn't roll around on my table and it's easier to store in my makeup cubby. It contains .24 oz of product, which is more than MAC but the same amount as Bobbi Brown. The lip gloss tube itself is shorter than I'm used to but I like how the shorter tube fits in my cramped makeup cubby better. The sticker on the bottom has the name of the lip gloss and the brand name in easier to read letters. I hate when the writing is so tiny that I have to squint or get a magnifying glass to see what it's called (ง'̀-'́)ง. Ain't nobody got time for dat!

Dislikes

I don't like to apply too many lip products because I don't like that heavy feeling. I usually only apply one product and I'm good to go. This lip gloss isn't pigmented enough for me to wear alone. That may be a good or bad thing depending on what you like to wear.

Cherros looks like a bright cherry red in the tube but on my pigmented lips, it comes off as a very sheer, rosey tint. I like that it just adds a natural, rosey red color to my mauvey, lifeless lips lol. It is a milky looking color, if that makes any sense O_o. It doesn't have any shimmers in it, which is really nice if you're sensitive to that stuff. I didn't like it at first because it was so sheer but I'm starting to warm up to this color for when I don't have a lot of time to get ready or if I'm going to be out all day and want a no-fuss color or to top off my other lip products throughout the day.

In the tube, Venezia Red is a dark red, carmine color. On my lips, it's a bit sheerer but not as sheer as Cherros. The color is a ruby red when swatched and leads a nice red color for nighttime if you don't want a dark color. This is a sparkly gloss which I am not a fan of, but you can't feel the shimmers in the gloss, for which I am thankful. You definitely see the shimmers if you're up really close but from speaking/arm's distance, you don't see anything but a nice sheen. I feel the shimmers in this lipgloss is elegant but I prefer my lip products to be sans-glitter.

Another thing that kind of kills it for me is that it leaks. It's such a waste and for a high end lip gloss, that shouldn't be a problem.

The color range is also a bit limited at only 12 shades of pinky nudes, varying shades of red and brown. I tend to like orange or coral shades more and this range didn't have any of that. There is a brown-y plum color that I haven't seen very often that looks pretty nice but I wouldn't pick it up at this price (and it's spring and that color wouldn't see much action in this season).

Bottom Line

I got these on sale for $11 on Amazon but even then, I wouldn't really recommend them. I hardly use them, which is why it took me so long to get around to reviewing them. If you want to try them, Cherros is the one I'd pick since I can wear it alone or over another lip product. I think NYC and NYX make amazing lip glosses with much more pigment and formula/textures that for a quarter of the price. You can find it also on Vincent Longo.com.

*Sorry about this being pictureless but I'll update later on today when the sun comes up*

*02/28/14* Pictures are up! Hopefully they show off the color well :)

MWAH Musings ♥

  • I'm finally on spring break! Yaaaaay...I'm going to do my best to catch up on all the blog posts I missed...expect 5 more by the end of today!
  • I had steamed crab and stir fried bok choy in oyster sauce today for dinner. I had been craving the bok choy for ages now and never appreciated the simple foods my mom made until I didn't have home cooked food on a regular basis #SimpleThingsInLife #ThanksMom
  • Need to go to Rite Aid tomorrow...they were having a clearance sale on the essie nail strips and I need to go back to pick up some more...as well as find my mom's favorite lipstick and blush since she's running low on both those items #GivingBack
So that's it for this post! I just needed to take a break and focus on school work. That (unintended) break was pretty nice but I'm happy to be back to sharing some reviews and stuff again! I have some fun things planned for the rest of this month as well as the next so stay tuned! (‐^▽^‐)

XOXO,
MWAH ♥
