HAUL + REVIEW | Drugstore Lippies

HAUL + REVIEW | Drugstore Lippies, revlon, rimmel, maybelline, loreal

I wasn't going to post this but I decided it might be helpful to show you some of the colors I'll be rocking this Spring and Summer. A lot of these products have been around for a while now (#LateBloomer) but I decided to give them a try and see what the hype was all about (#CuriousCat)! I have tried most of these colors already so I'll provide mini-reviews/first impressions where I can.

HAUL + REVIEW | Drugstore Lippies, loreal caring coral

I was buying a scale at WalMart and to get the free shipping, I decided to add some lip products to my cart...I don't know what I was thinking but I picked up the Loreal Color Riche Balm in Caring Coral. I haven't really heard any really rave reviews on this product (or maybe I missed out on the train when this was first released) but I'm really into coral and orange for all seasons, really. This is a super sheer color--I think the swatch above was 5 swipes and that was the best I could get. It doesn't really show up this color on my slightly pigmented lips but I like the moisture it provides. I like layering this over my Benefit ChaChaTint (I have a thing about matching my balms to my lip tint or lipstick) even though it doesn't really add anything. For some reason, it looks really orange on there but in real life, it's more of a pinky coral color. The scent is a nice vanilla scent, which I normally don't like but this one isn't off-putting in the least. Packaging is nice and sleek--love the square design as it doesn't roll around. This balm contains 0.10 oz/2.9 g of product. It's nice but too sheer for my needs.
Bottom Line: I'd pass on this unless you prefer slightly tinted (practically colorless) but moisturizing and glossy lip products.

HAUL + REVIEW | Drugstore Lippies, rimmel london lasting finish lipstick 104 109 070 airy fairy
So I've heard a lot of good things about the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick and the Lasting Finish Matte Lipsticks by Kate Moss so I decided to try 2 from the Kate line and one from the regular line. Let me tell you, these guys are pigmented! The swatches above are done with one swipe--which is pretty cool considering how cheap they are. They don't skip and apply very evenly. They are not particularly moisturizing nor are they drying. I like to carry a lip gloss or balm to provide moisture throughout the day. Since they are so pigmented, they leave a slight stain on my lips as they wear throughout the day, which is a nice surprise. As I was removing the swatches from my arm, they left behind some pink and orange stripes! I'd say they are a matte finish, which is what I love to wear the most. These lipsticks contain 0.14 oz/ 4 g of product.

The two Kate Moss collection lipsticks--109 and 104--have a sweet tamarind smell that reminds me of this candy I used to eat when I was younger--Rellerindos.The scent is strong in the tube but when it's on, I don't smell anything anymore. I don't have the best sense of smell ever though. 104 is a medium pink that makes me feel like an elegant lady whenever I wear it. 109 is a vibrant, orange-y coral color. I showcased it in my Spring 2014 Makeup Trends as well. The packaging is super adorable with the Kate ♡ logo. The red and black color palette stands out in my lip collection and looks very sleek. Overall, I'm very into these lipsticks and am interested in picking up more!

Airy Fairy has been on my lemmings list for the longest time ever but I couldn't find it  anywhere. I had thought it was limite edition so imagine my surprise when I found it at Ulta! I immediately grabbed it up and have been loving it ever since. I'm not a nude lip kind of girl at all because I feel like it washes me out too much and since I prefer to wear lighter eye makeup, a bright lip picks up my mood immediately. This color is a nice pinky nude for my warm, medium light skin tone. It just looks really natural but brightens my complexion just so. There is a gold sheen in this but it doesn't really show up on my lips; I think it just makes the lipstick look warmer. This has definitely changed my stance on my no-nude-lips ban, even encouraging me to use up my lighter pink glosses (which used to lie unused in makeup graveyard). I just love this color and am so glad to ThatsHeart for turning me into a loyal fan of this color ❤︎.
Bottom Line: I'd definitely recommend these lipsticks! The colors are vibrant, the packaging is cute, and most importantly, they're very affordable.

HAUL + REVIEW | Drugstore Lippies, maybelline colorsensational lipstick in 945 stormy sahara

To continue breaking my makeup rules, the Maybelline ColorSensational The Buffs Lipstick in Stormy Sahara totally sneaked its way into my heart. I first saw it on the Muse and while she didn't like the color on herself, I thought it was such a pretty color that I ran out to CVS to get it! My pictures don't really do this lipstick enough justice. She does mention that it's drier in texture but I feel like that helps it last very long on my lips. I don't have problems with it being patchy or anything; I find it applies very smoothly and evenly but then again, I am a 20-something with okay lips. I have mentioned it before in my February 2014 Favorites and the swatch I have now is a bit better than the one in there. There's no shimmer in here and it's a satin matte finish in my opinion. Each tube contains .15 oz/4.2 g of product.
Bottom Line: I definitely recommend picking it up if you're a fan of nude lips and for those who dread the zombie lips because this won't give that effect (sorry zombies!)

HAUL + REVIEW | Drugstore Lippies, maybelline color whisper
Okay, I have a sort of love-hate relationship with these Color Whispers. I do like that they are very versatile in terms of pigmentation but for Pin Up Peach and Coral Ambition, they don't show up on my lips very well. It's just a milky color with a glossy finish. I treat those two as just regular "clear" lip balms for me. Rose of Attraction and Orange Attitude show up better on my lips but since they're so glossy and moisturizing, they kind of go everywhere, which is not a cute look. If I apply less so it doesn't migrate and feel wet, I sacrifice color payoff. I don't know if this is just everyone, but when I apply makeup, I want there to  be some kind of effect, whether it brightens my complexion, makes me stand out, or whatever. I don't want to look the same before and after I apply the product, you get me? These are nice for those days where my lips are chapped and not looking their best, but other than that, I don't really reach for them as much as I'd thought I would. Packaging is really pretty though, with the name scrawled prettily (oxymoron, much?) on the side of the cap and I love how the cap matches the color inside. The scent reminds me of the Maybelline Baby Lips and Fruit Loops but less intense. You get .11 oz/3 g of product in each tube.
Bottom Line: A lot of Youtubers really liked them but for me, I think they're a pass. I would only get Rose of Attraction if I were to go back in time.

HAUL + REVIEW | Drugstore Lippies, nyx butter lip balm

The NYX Butter Lip Balms (CF) were relatively new when I first got them. I was interested in them because I was going through a really dry and chapped lip stage during the winter so I was looking for moisturizing products that also had a bit of color to them. These sadly failed in the color department. I was hoping Panna Cotta would be a natural, MLBB color and you can never go wrong with orange-y coral lips (Macaron--such a cute name!), but sadly, these failed for me. The swatches above were done with five-seven swipes (and you can barely see it still) and they look very similar, now that I think about it. Maybe I picked the wrong colors and the darker ones will have better color payoff but I'm not going to spend more money to test that hypothesis. Macaron also has shimmers in it but that doesn't really show up on my lips unless I crazily apply too much in an attempt to get the color to show up on my lips) The fruity scent is pretty nice. The packaging is really accurate to what color you get inside. There is 0.14oz/4g of product.
Bottom Line: I'd pass on these two colors since there's not much color payoff and on my lips, they look like I just added a clear balm on top.

HAUL + REVIEW | Drugstore Lippies, revlon colorburst lip butter sweet tart

Revlon Lip Butters are nothing new. I didn't jump on this wagon earlier because I prefer lip products that last a long time over any other kind. These are balm-like with pretty good pigmentation for those of you who are unfamiliar with this product. I have one other color called Tutti Frutti which is a reddish orange color with pretty good color payoff. This one isn't as pigmented as Tutti Frutti but it is shinier on the lips, which helps camouflage chapped lips better. Sweet Tart is a bright pink that pulls cooler on my lips. I normally don't like cool colors for my complexion but this one isn't too bad. There's no sparkles in this product but it gives my lips a nice shine. I detect a very faint smell of something but it's not strong enough for me to figure out what it is. This contains 0.09 oz/2.55 g of product.
Bottom Line: I don't think I'd pick up this color again but Tutti Frutti is really nice.

HAUL + REVIEW | Drugstore Lippies, revlon colorburst matte balm unapologetic, elusive

Lastly, I have two of the Revlon Matte Balms. I'm a huge fan of the original Balmstains so when I heard about these, I had to pick them up! I got them from Ulta when they were having a buy one, get one 50% off sale so I recommend waiting for those sales if you want more than one color. Elusive is an elegant pink that looks really natural on my lips. Unapologetic is a bright, practically neon, watermelon pink shade that was just too pretty for me to pass up. These are really matte and you have to make sure your lips are well prepped (exfoliated and moisturized) before you apply these because they will pick up every flaw on your lips. These totally emphasized the lines on my lips and made them look old and dry. I usually like to add a balm underneath to fill in my lip lines a bit before wearing these. These don't have the staying power of their predecessors but they aren't advertised to be. They do stain your lips lightly though. Like their predecessors, they have that same minty scent. Packaging matches the finish and color very well. The swivel top is handy because the chubbier pencil doesn't fit most sharpeners. These chubby lip pencils contain 0.095 oz/2.7 g of product each.
Bottom Line: I'm a bit on the fence about these. While I love the colors, the formula isn't something I like and requires a bit of elbow grease to get it look nice. I'm not a big fan of spending time on my lips and prefer something I can just slap on. I definitely would stay away if you're prone to chapped and dry lips because these will just make it worse. I know they have a lacquer version but most, if not all, contain visible particles of glitter so that's something of which to take note.

This concludes another post from me. I'm not sure if it's helpful that I add my thoughts to my hauls but since I don't want to do a separate review for each product, I thought this would be better.
