RE-DISCOVERY| Estee Lauder Deluxe Pure Color Eyeshadow Palette

Welcome back to my blog! Last week, I posted daily blogs to help start up my blog, which is still really exciting to me! It was pretty tough finding things to talk about but I made it through! From now on, I will be posting Mondays and Fridays :)

"Re-Discovery" is, like the name implies, about finding things in my makeup collection that have been collecting dust for a while! It was so exciting going through it today to find the hidden gems of my collection. Getting new things is very exciting but sometimes, you already have a palette or item that performs wonderfully or even better! I forget why I put it away in the first place O﹏o I try to rotate palettes and stuff so that it all gets used, but sometimes, I get stuck on one item and forget about all the others (︺︹︺)

This blog post is dedicated to the Estee Lauder Deluxe Pure Color Eyeshadow Palette**! This was one of my first eyeshadow palettes I ever used. I was still a newbie at applying my makeup but my mom though that this palette would be good for a beginner like me.

I can see that years ago, I really loved using Tea Biscuit, Ivory Box, Cinnamon, and Berry Ice. Though I did not hit pan on any of these shades, I did make a considerable dent (which I kinda hope didn't show so the pictures will look nice lol). This was more of a special occasion palette than an everyday palette for me because I was still too young (IMO) to be wearing eyeshadow every day. I did however, like to wear Tea Biscuit all over the lid on special days at school like class presentations and parties!

The palette has a total of 10 shades in satin, shimmery and matte shades. It has very basic neutral shades with a couple of pinks, purples, and a green to add variety to the looks. You can create multiple eye looks with the palette. Some shades are more pigmented than others, as can be seen in the swatches below.

Each shade is buttery soft; however, I found Taupe and Camouflage to be on the slightly chalky side but Taupe is great as a blending color and Camouflage is nice along the lash line or outer corners. Taupe kind of matches my skintone so it doesn't look like it has pigment but I assure you, it does. Cinnamon is a metallic finish. Camouflage has a little bit of silver specks in it but on the lids, it comes off as a matte finish. Berry Ice, Smokey, and Mocha Cup are shimmer finish. All the other shades are satin finish. Berry Ice and Cinnamon are definitely the most pigmented shades here. If I wear Berry Ice all over the lid alone, it gives me a swollen eye look but if I pair it with some of the brown shades, it tempers the Berry Ice a bit. There are also a lot of good inner corner highlight and eyebrow highlight shades. I like how none of the shades are glittery or overly shimmery because it gives you a softer, more natural look. This is definitely a daytime appropriate eye palette but you can use Camouflage, Smokey, or Mocha Cup in the outer corners or along the lash line to transition it into a nighttime look.

I think this palette is a great traveling companion because it is contains colors that are very versatile. It also has a big mirror that stands up on its own so you don't have to hold onto it. Though the packaging is a bit bulky, I've dropped it numerous times and put heavy things on it (accidentally, I promise!), none of the shadows broke! It also contains two little sponge applicators that are handy if you're in a pinch. The reflective gold packaging also looks very festive and fancy when you pull it out of your makeup bag :)

This is more of a light eyeshadow/natural makeup palette than one that is super pigmented, which I personally love because I don't want to overpower my eyes or have the focus on just my eyes. I like the focus to be on how the foundation, blush, eyeshadow, mascara, etc. work together to enhance my face not on how bright my lips look or glittery my eyes are (though it isn't to mean I don't like a neon orange lip or sparkly eye shadow). It's just for every day, I like a more relaxed, soft look. This is also one of the few eyeshadow palettes that don't bother my eyes. Other eyeshadows make my eyes irritated, red and dry after a couple hours of wear but I've had no problems with this palette. I really don't know why I put it away for so long!

Below, I have some pictures of an eye look I put together using this palette and some additional items. ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿ I will update on how long it lasted on me later! Update: It's been almost six hours later, and I see minimal creasing in my inner crease, color is still vibrant. I do have oily eyelids so I don't expect any eyeshadow to stay put and look nice hours after I put it on!

I primed my lids using Wet n Wild Fergie Eyeshadow Primer.
I used Tea Biscuit on the inner half, Cinnamon on the outer half, Mocha Cup on the outermost corners, Tarte Cashmere Waterproof Gliding Eyeliner in Bronze on the upper lash line,  Rimmel Scandaleyes Long-wear waterproof eye liner in 005 Nude in the waterline, Milani Shadow Eyez Eyeshadow in 11 Sand Dunes on the lower lashline, and Benefit They're Real! Mascara

So that's it for this post! I am glad I did this because I loved this palette and finding it again really made my day! The sad thing is that I got it as part of a set that Estee Lauder did for Christmas one year so I don't know if this exact palette is still available. I checked on ebay and they were selling it for such a high price! *෴* Maybe you could bring one of the pictures to a counter and they can help you find similar shades.
