FAVORITES| October 2013 ♡

It's time for Favorites again! This month, I've tried out sooo many new products and some were misses, but most were hits!

FAVORITES| October 2013, face shop aura control cream, rimmel apocalips, the balm instain blush houndstooth, maybelline one by one mascara, retinol cream

First up, I love the Rimmel Lip Lacquers, as they're known in the U.S. Every Youtuber was raving about them so I decided to give them a try. At about $5 a pop, they were a steal! They are long lasting and pigmented--a little goes a long way! I particularly love the shades Luna (light peachy-orange) , Celestial (pinky-mauve), and Aurora (medium pink). A more detailed review on these products (as wells as other shades) can be found here!

I also love the Face Shop FACE it Aura Color Control Cream. I have in shade 02, which is the perfect shade for me. I got it because CC creams are huge right now and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I really like it because it feels light on the skin--I can hardly feel it right now! It's very moisturizing, which is great for the colder months. Overall, this is a great one to try if you are new to CC creams. Check out my review on this here (coming soon!).

I've also been loving my Maybelline One by One mascara in Waterproof. It's a great waterproof formula--I showered with it on and when I got out, there were only tiny little flakes under my eyes but the flakes were only visible when I got really close to the mirror. They were easily removed with a tissue. My eyelashes still looked really good, which was surprising. Keep in mind that I didn't submerge my entire face in the water, so I wouldn't know how it'll perform if you are swimming in the water. However, if you are just splashing about in the pool, without getting drenched, I think it'll hold up very well. It isn't smudgeproof, which is a bummer but as a waterproof mascara, it performs quite well! Click here for a more in-depth review!

The Balm's Instain blushes are amazing! I got them on recommendation from EmilyNoel 83 on Youtube and she has never led me wrong! They are super pigmented and come in the prettiest shades. At first, I balked at spending that much on a single product--let alone three. ⁀⊙﹏☉⁀ However, I've been using them everyday and I totally love it! I have three shades: Swiss Dot (peach), Toile (strawberry), and Houndstooth (mauve). My favorite out of the bunch is Houndstooth. I normally do not gravitate towards such a dark color, preferring my peachy pinks and peachy orange, but this is a great color for fall, pairing well with darker lips.

A miss for me this month was Batiste's Dry Shampoo in Blush. Don't get me wrong--Batiste makes my favorite dry shampoos--the formula does not weight down my fine hair while adding slight volume at the roots. There's no gray or white casts and it lasts for a fairly long time. however, the scent is something that I cannot get over. I'm not very paticular on scents and sometimes, I can grow to love a cent. However, Blush smells like old lady perfume and reminds me of this carpet cleaner my mom used to use when we had carpets in the house--neither scents that I want in my hair. It's very strong and perfumey, which would have been nice if I liked the scent. I will continue to use it but I might go back to the Original scent or try a new one.

My skin has been particularly dry and flakey (but still oily!) since the transition from summer to fall here in the Western Hemisphere, so I've been using my Skincare LdeL Cosmetics Retinol Night Cream and the Retinol Day Cream religiously. I love how rich it feels, which seems like it would be bad for my oily skin but it really nourishes and repairs my skin while I sleep. I wake up the next morning with really nice and soft skin. A little does go a long way! The Day Cream has SPF 20, which is good enough for the overcast weather. It really helps my foundation go on smoothly over the drier patches near my eyes and nose, which helps me avoid the cake face. I haven't been needing to use the Day Cream as much anymore since my skin has started to rebalance itself but the Night Cream is still a staple in my nighttime skin care routine! Ulta is having a sale on the Day Cream and the Night Cream right now! A more detailed review on both these products can be found here(coming soon!).

So these are my favorites (and miss!) for this month. I'd love to hear about yours so please leave it in a comment below!
