Today, I have Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara in Blackest Black Waterproof up on the chopping block. ≧ω≦
This mascara claims to strengthen and plump lashes for maximum volume. For me however, it doesn't
do much at all. It clumps my lashes together, which makes it look like I have even less lashes. I have to be careful not to apply too many coats because the clumping gets worse. I find that if I wiggle the brush from side to side in a zig zagging motion, it helps separate my lashes better and doesn't leave little clumps on them. It doesn't claim to be a lengthening mascara so I don't fault it for not doing much in the lengthening department.
The formula doesn't hold the curl very well. I always curl my lashes first with a lash curler and then apply mascara. Waterproof formulas are supposed to have more waxes in them to help hold a curl better but this mascara is too thick and weighs down my lashes. My lashes don't feel soft and look slightly crunchy. When I try to layer it with another mascara, it creates a lumpy mess. (╥﹏╥) It claims to be waterproof but when I tear up or yawn, I will end up with a black ring under my eyes. I took a nap with this mascara on and when I woke up, I had black rings under my eyes as well. I definitely would not wear this to the pool or any event where I will cry. With one coat, it doesn't look like I did anything to my lashes. When I add a second coat, it looks a lot better but I run the risk of getting panda eyes throughout the day. ಥ_ಥ If you plan on adding a second coat, I highly recommend doing it before the mascara dries because it will be Clump City if you wait too long! I think it also irritates my eyes because they get red and dry after 4 hours whenever I use it, which is a definite no-no.
The name is also a bit misleading because I expected that with continued use, my lashes will become stronger and fuller but I checked the Revlon website and it has a disclaimer, "Does not cause new lash growth". That's a bit disappointing but that's what lash serums are for!

According to Revlon, the brush is "tapered to uniquely fit the eyes' contouring, coating every lash for plumping perfection". For me, the brush is the traditional spiral kind. I don't think that this is a good brush for people with sparse and short lashes because I find that it clumps my lashes and doesn't do a very good job of removing them or separating the lashes.
Overall, I would pass on this mascara. It doesn't do much for my lashes and it's too bothersome and high maintenance for my daily use. I will use it but because I hate throwing away products but this will be a no-repurchase from me. Let me know down below how you feel about it if you've tried it or other recommendations you have for me. ≧◉◡◉≦
*Update 03/05/14* So I've had this mascara for a while now. I recently took it out to give it one last try and lo and behold, it works pretty well for me now! I guess it's just one of those mascaras that you have to let the formula dry out a little before it becomes usable. It doesn't smudge much on me as much as before, while thickening and lengthening my lashes at the same time (still can look clumpy if I'm not careful). It does hold a curl but I feel like my curl eventually drops. I'm glad that it sort-of works better for me now and I retract some of my negativity against this product!
XOXO,
MWAH ♥
