Jun Ji Hyun Inspired Spring '14 Makeup
I'm slowly catching up with my posts >.< I just had a midterm and now I have a paper due next Monday so it's taking me a while but I'll get there! I've never heard of Jun Ji Hyun before but after watching You Who Came From the Stars, I've completely become a big fan of hers and cannot wait to see what project she'll come up with next! Now, I do not claim to look like her but I love how her makeup was fresh looking, with the dewy skin as well as on trend, with the pop of orange on her lids, strong orange cheeks, understated orange lips and a bit of contouring. Like the title says, I'm going to show you how to get a fresh, on-trend Spring look without going overboard.

First off, we're going to start with the base makeup.

  • Primer: I primed my face with Benefit's Porefessional to mask the appearance of pores as Jun Ji Hyun doesn't sport any in her photo.

  • Dewy Foundation: After giving it a couple seconds to set, I applied MUFE HD Foundation in 120 Soft Sand. Choose a dewy foundation for that glowy skin. Loreal TrueMatch Lumi Healthy Luminous Foundation is a good one if you're on a budget. If you do not have one, you can mix a bit of liquid highlighter with your current foundation to achieve that glow.
  • Concealer: I spot concealed with MUFE Full Cover Concealer in 7 Sand. You don't need a lot of this!
  • Concealer: I also used Benefit's Fake Up Concealer in 2 Medium to cover up my dark circles and to brighten my under eye area.

Next, we're going to move onto the eyes!

  • Primer: I used Urban Decay Primer Potion all over my lids to help it last throughout the day.
  • Eyeshadow: I applied Champagne from the Lorac Pro Palette, a shimmery color, starting from the inner corner to the outer eye, leaving a third of the outer eye bare. Any shimmery skin tone color will do.
  • Eyebrow: While the primer was setting, I filled in my brow with Revlon Brow Fantasy in Dark Brown, making sure to keep my brows full and slightly arched like Jun Ji Hyun's.

  • Eyeshadow: I didn't have an orange eyeshadow on hand so I used my Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Darling (LE--sorry!) in my outer corners. You do not have to out and buy one--just use your blush instead! This one is matte and I can't really tell if she has a matte eye going on but I prefer to balance my shimmer with matte.

  •  Eyeliner: I used a dark brown gel liner (Etude House Chocolate Smudge Liner in Dark Choco Brown--LE again T_T) because that's what works best for me. Make sure to line it closely to your lashline, winging it out slightly at the end--nothing too dramatic. I used a dark brown because it's less harsh than black but gives you some definition.
  • Mascara: Use any that you like. From the picture, there's not much emphasis on her lashes so I didn't apply any falsies. I used Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara*.

Moving back to finish up the face:
  • Contour: Jun Ji Hyun has some slight contouring going on her forehead and nose. I didn't do any heavy contouring  because I had to go out right after this and I didn't want to shock my friends with how I looked. They were plenty surprised to see me with winged eyeliner so I'm glad I didn't go crazy with the face. I did contour my nose using Tarte's Amazonian Clay Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess. Any matte contouring shade suited for your skin tone will do.
  • Blush: Instead of contouring her cheekbones with bronzer, she has a strong orange blush going on. I did not go all out on this because I had to go out after this but be heavy handed with your orange blush for a true Jun Ji Hyun look. I used Darling from Tarte, focusing the color on the upper cheekbone area, avoiding the apples of the cheeks.

 For the lips:

  • Lipstick: I first applied Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Salmon. It didn't look as bright as I wanted it to so I dabbed Maybelline The Vivds Lipstick in Electric Orange to bring more color to the lips.

Some selfies LOL
And you have the finished look! This is a toned down version of what she had going on but as I didn't want to look like a clown when going to my club meeting, I had no choice T_T. You can, of course, adjust and replace things to suit your tastes :)

I didn't set with a powder as I wanted to show the dewiness from the skin but if I was wearing this out and about, I definitely would've applied a finishing powder or something (which I ended up doing anyway). So I hope you like this look. I definitely loved it as orange is one of my favorite colors to wear on my face as it brings in a lot of warmth and color, perfect for Spring! If you recreate this look, please post it to my Twitter @MakeupWithAHart so I can see all the cool ways y'all interpreted this look :)

MWAH Musings ♥

  • Have any of you watching YWCFTS? I totally cried at some of the scenes--won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it--Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun totally killed it! I loved how it was funny (bordering on ridiculous) and dark at the same time. Really good watch :)
  • Have paper due Monday so I will be behind again T_T I promise I will catch up soon! I even have a little suprise for all of you to make it up ♥
  • Just finished watching Medical Top Team. Not sure how it did ratings-wise but I liked it. Not the best drama I've ever seen but I really like medical dramas as I want to go into the healthcare field one day...felt like the love story was tacked on as an afterthought...I like love stories and all but the drama would've been fine without one.
XOXO,
MWAH ♥
