If you haven't figured it out already, I've been a tad obsessed with Colourpop lately. I was always a late bloomer so I'm kicking myself for missing out on so many awesome shades! But I believe that it's better late than never so I'm making up for lost time with yet another haul. Most of the eyeshadows and highlighters are from their Fall release and so should still be in stock by the time this post goes up. And if you're anything like me, let's jump right into swatches!
As you can see, most have been used before I took photos. I wasn't sure if I was going to write this post but after trying them, I knew I had to let y'all know! Their Super Shock Shadows are my favorite from this brand so I chose to add seven more to my growing collection. I can see a theme going on here with my picks...
- Arrow is described as a "vibrant metallic red with an extreme hot pink and coppery duo chrome effect topped with pink and copper glitter in an Ultra-Glitter finish". It's on the sheerer side and benefits greatly from a base shadow underneath.
- Sailor is described as a "cool-toned taupe undertone with an opalescent green and teal duo chrome finish sprinkled with green, teal and silver glitter in an Ultra-Glitter finish". If you're feeling deja vu, you're not the only one. It's very similar to Urban Decay's Moondust Eyeshadow in Solstice, except it doesn't have the red tones. So if you were looking for a dupe or a cheaper alternative, Sailor is a great choice.
- Paradox is a cool toned burgundy in a satin finish. Surprisingly, this is one of my favorite shades. After seeing all the gorgeous red eyeshadow looks on Instagram, I had to ry it out for myself. This one makes my dark brown eyes pop without looking irritated due to the cooler tone. It has a slight purple tinge that makes it more wearable.
- Brady is a soft dusty rose in a matte finish. Colourpop mattes are great with a synthetic brush and this one is no exception. I like this one in my crease if I'm doing a rose gold look.
- Muse is described as a coppery rose in a pearlized finish. I think this is a true metallic shadow and it's utterly gorgeous. I've compared it to other "rose golds" in my collection so check it out if you're interested in other rose golds.
- Bill is a "muted plum beige matte". I don't really see any beige in this shadow but I like the washed out plumminess in the crease. Straight-up grey looks like charcoal smudges on me so this pairs well with cool toned purple eyeshadows. I cannot help but think of Kill Bill when I see this shadow...
- Tang is a "soft dusty plum matte". It's warmer than Bill but it's in the same neighborhood. Looks great with both pink and purple shadows!
I've paired Paradox with either Arrow or Sailor below for some ideas on wearing the sheerer shadows. Paradox is gorgeous on it's own but the added sparkle is hard to resist!
I never thought I'd be a highlighter girl but I've always looked a little glitter and shimmer. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonlight Highlighting Palette has been flying off the shelves. I didn't want to shell out $40 usd for it but it turns out to be more affordable than finding Colourpop "dupes". I wouldn't consider these exact dupes but if you like the ethereal, funky highlight but didn't want the entire palette, any one of these would give off a similar vibe.
Packaged similarly to their shadows, the Colourpop Highlighters come in a variety of colors. These feel almost wet to the touch in comparison to their shadows. This gives them a less intense finish, even with fingers. I'm still not sure how I feel about them but I do love the unconventional colors.
- Over the Moon -- I was most excited about this one because I like duochrome things. Either the duochrome effect is subtle or my eyes are playing tricks on me. It just looks like a glitter bomb of pink, violet and blue. Not salty about it at all but I think this one is better as an eyeshadow topper rather than for highlighting.
- Hippo -- I was expecting a icy lavender but it looks quite peachy on me. This one is smooth and evenly pigmented so I can use this as a traditional highlighter. Probably my favorite out of the bunch.
- Honeymoon -- This one was also supposed to be a baby blue with violet and pink duochrome. Just looks like blue sparkles to me...
- Perilune -- Described as a green and gold opalescent with duo chrome glitters, it looks like green sparkles on me.
- Monster -- It's a light pink with a highly opalescent duochrome finish. This one is a true duochrome as the color shifts from pink to purple depending on the way light hits the product. It's not super intense or shimmery which I prefer. I haven't tried them on the eyes yet but I think it would be even cooler over a black base!
Overall, I'm satisfied with my picks. The shadows have seen a lot of action these past few weeks and I can see myself wearing them well into winter! On the other hand, the highlighters have given me pause. Nikki Tutorials did say the new ones were quite sheer but as I find her highlight too intense, I thought that they'd be perfect for me. However, they're just glitter sparkles without much of a base. I'm still going to try them out over eyeshadows to see how I like them in that purpose but if you're expecting a green or blue sheen, skip these and go for the Anastasia.
So because I want to apologize for being away so long, I'm giving away three Colourpop shadows! I accidentally bought an extra of Cornelious so it's a bonus for one of you. Sailor and Paradox are such favorites and I didn't know if they were limited edition or not so I bought back ups anyway -- and wanted to share the love with one of you! All you have to do is
- Follow me on Bloglovin. This way, you'll be notified every time I post! I'm sure you wouldn't want to miss it ;)
- Leave a comment down below! It can be about anything you want but make sure it's varied every time. I don't want to read spam and I'm sure you wouldn't either.
It'll start from Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10 AM PST and end on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 10 AM PST. You can live anywhere in the world as long as your country accepts incoming packages from the U.S. Any customs and duties are unfortunately your responsibility, but I haven't had this issue in previous giveaways. Make sure you have your guardian's permission if you're a minor -- I don't want an angry email from a disapproving parent!
P.S. You'll be getting fresh, unswatched ones. I don't know why I decided to take photos of the ones I swatched but rest assured, yours will be brand spanking new!
I wish everyone luck and I cannot wait to hear from you!
Oh my good grief - these are STUNNING. I love colours like this! Those Colour Pop eyeshadows, swoooon!
ReplyDeleteHehe, it was fun shopping my stash to find these. I'm a creature of habit so I always gravitate towards these tones...this'll serve as a reminder to not buy any more rose gold shadows haha.
