BEAUTY REVIEW | August 2015 ♡

august 2015 favorites, monthly beauty review, parissa eyebrow shaper strips, nature republic 1 min dry shampoo, benefit fake up concealer in 02 medium, skinfood silicone cleansing pad, makeup forever full cover concealer in 7 sand, burt's bees replenishing lip balm in pomegranate reviews
This month has flown by so I didn't test as many products as I wanted to. There are repeat loves but there are a couple new products that I'm extremely excited to talk about! Without further ado, let's get on with the post. :D

  • SKINFOOD SILICONE CLEANSING PAD -- I've talked about this in my recent Korean Summer Haul (haul) so I won't go on and on about it. It's a convenient little pad with rounded nubs that make cleansing more effective than with just your fingers. There's two types, a bigger nub and smaller, flexible nubs for targeted cleaning. I don't bother with using the bigger nubs for my nose and smaller nubs for everywhere else--just rub and go! It suctions to my mirror so I don't lose it amongst the stuff on my counter. Neat if you don't want to splash out for a Clarisonic.
  • MAKEUP FOREVER FULL COVER CONCEALER -- I have mine in shade 7 Sand. It's been insanely hot here so a full-face of makeup is the last thing I want to do. So if I'm going out and taking pictures, I'll just put this on areas I need coverage and call it a day. After powder, this won't be going anywhere! I get super sweaty and oily but when I look in the mirror, my blemishes are still hidden. After a 12-hour day that included lots of walking outdoors, I still had medium coverage. Definitely a staple all year round! I think I need a lighter shade because this looked a bit orange. I'm in a bit of a pickle when it comes to face makeup. My body has tanned considerably, but my face is still its usual color. This matches my body but is too dark for my face and neck. Should I just match my face and screw my body color? What do y'all do when this happens?
  • BENEFIT FAKE UP CONCEALER -- No matter the weather, if I'm going out, I'll at least cover my under eye circles. I'm a bit self-conscious about them because my family and friends always comment on them. Maybe they're used to me looking perky with makeup so when I go without, I look a little dead. Anyhoo, this is my ultimate favorite under eye concealer. I don't have the worst circles, but they do look a bit bruise-like if I don't get enough sleep. This is hydrating and once set, it doesn't move all over the place. It is on the thicker side if I compare it to the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer (review). Yet it doesn't feel uncomfortable, just like a nice eye cream. Medium 02 is a bit lighter than my skin tone. It gives me a brighter, subtle Kim K highlighter look (if Kim K could be subtle, haha). The yellow undertone neutralizes my darkness well without pulling too yellow. I'm hankering to buy the full size but since Benefit Cosmetics isn't cruelty-free, I'm still on the hunt for a good under eye concealer. If you have any recommendations, let me know!
  • BURT'S BEES REPLENISHING LIP BALM IN POMEGRANATE -- Not all lip balms are created equal and this is one of the best I've tried. While I love my Maybelline Baby Lips (review), they don't do much when I need serious damage control. Chapped and peeling lips will be soothed with a thick layer of this balm. I slather on an obscene amount, let it sit for an hour or so and then using a tissue, rub my lips to exfoliate the dead skin. This is my favorite nighttime balm but let's be honest, I use it all the time, especially in the dry and hot summer. I should just drink more water, but this is easier than chugging 64 oz. Despite the pretty pink color, it comes out colorless on my pigmented lips. Smells like citrusy beeswax, but it fades after a while. Doesn't taste gross like some lip balms.
  • PARISSA EYEBROW SHAPER STRIPS -- While I love getting my brows threaded, there are days when I can't get to the salon. These are vertical stripes of wax on plastic sheets that are just the perfect length for my brows. I'm not good at creating an arch on my brows so I end up with straight brows. I don't mind much since I prefer the softer and youthful look, even if it's not the most flattering shape for my face. I use about 4 pieces (8 halves in total) for both brows each time so I get about 4 uses out of each box. When they say "32 count", they mean 32 halves, so it's more like 16 since the sheets are stuck together. I like the soothing oil they include in this kit because it does help soothe the stinging. It also prevents those nasty bumps from waxing. Do pull fast because if you pull too slow, not only will you not remove any hair, you'll get sticky wax on your brows. I'm pretty much done with this box so you'll see it in my empties soon!
  • NATURE REPUBLIC 1 MIN DRY SHAMPOO -- If you've been reading my posts for a long time, you'll know I'm a dry shampoo fiend. I decided to give this one a try since I've had such good luck with Korean beauty products thus far. This one failed to soak up excess oil and give me volume, things I look for in a dry shampoo. It didn't leave a white residue and out of all the dry shampoos I've tried, this one has the best scent. The scent reminds me of something I've smelled before but can't pinpoint; maybe it smells like Marc Jacobs Daisy? I'll have to give Daisy another sniff to confirm.
What products have y'all been loving? Disliking?

XOXO,
MWAH ♥
