UNBOXING┊ bareMinerals Beauty & the Beach Sephora Beauty Insider Box 500 points

⇥ AT A GLANCE ⇤

I love these little boxes from Sephora as it lets me try out a particular brand's most popular products. Of course, the 500-point "perk" is a bit exorbitant but I try to accrue points during their 4x points sales. Anyhoo, this time, I have the bareMinerals Beauty & the Beach Beauty Insider Box which includes deluxe sized samples of the All-Over Face Color in Pure Radiance, the READY Blush in the Natural High, the READY Bronzer in Skinny Dip, the Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara, and the Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Party Starter

⇥ THE BREAKDOWN ⇤

UNBOXING┊ bareMinerals Beauty & the Beach Sephora Beauty Insider Box 500 points, all over face color, pure radiance review swatches
The bareMinerals All-Over Face Color is meant to provide a luminosity to the face, mimicking the natural dewiness of a child's skin. Available in 8 shades, apply to the high points of your face (depending on the shade)  for a quick glowing effect. I have shade Pure Radiance, which is a golden peach sheen. I'm pretty sure it's obvious in the swatch but this product is quite pigmented. The powder format made me a bit nervous that this would fly everywhere but it's actually quite dense. Application with a brush was a bit difficult; I much prefer my finger for pinpoint accuracy. Since this product is quite pigmented, a little goes a long way. Packaging is solid--the powder doesn't leak and the holes don't release too much product at once. Price on these babies is $19usd for 0.03oz each ($633.33usd per oz), literally, powdered gold. Even though it's meant for the face, I couldn't resist using it as an eyeshadow. I pressed this in with my finger, which didn't cause any fallout. It was quite a pretty champagne beige with a golden sheen on my skintone, very lovely.

UNBOXING┊ bareMinerals Beauty & the Beach Sephora Beauty Insider Box 500 points, ready blush in the natural high review swatches
Offered in 7 shades, the bareMinerals READY Blushes are  antioxidant-rich blushes that enhances cheeks with long-lasting and buildable color. The Natural High is described as a golden petal peach. It's definitely on the shimmery side. The golden sheen lends a healthy glow to the skin, I say sheen and not sparkle or shimmer because the sparkly bits aren't obvious or chunky. Highlighter is not needed unless one really wants a super glowy look. I have combination skin so my natural oils come out in a few hours so this blush's shimmer is all I need. It is quite soft to the touch but kicks up a fair amount of powder--a rolling motion instead of a dabbing motion when picking up product helps minimize the powdery kick up. The peachy color is very flattering and since it's quite pigmented, I can see it working for a lot of skin tones. I get a decent amount of wear time with this blush though it starts to lose the golden sheen. Each READY Blush contains 0.22 oz of product for $22 usd ($104.76 usd per oz).

UNBOXING┊ bareMinerals Beauty & the Beach Sephora Beauty Insider Box 500 points, ready bronzer, the skinny dip, review and swatches
I've slowly been getting into bronzer so this is a welcome addition to my collection. The bareMinerals READY Bronzer is available in 3 shades. I have the lightest shade which is the Skinny Dip, a light tan. On my warm, light-medium skin tone, this bronzer registers as a peachy-orange color, similar to Nectar from the Lorac Pro Palette 2 (Nectar is bit more pink though). The formula is quite silky and smooth yet there isn't any powder kick up. It's quite buildable. If you use a fluffy duo-fiber brush, it can give you a light warmth but a denser brush can give you a strong contour if you so desire. This bronzer doesn't lean ashy, red or orange, which is my preference when it comes to bronzer. Tarte's Park Avenue Princess is more brown. Too Faced's Chocolate Soleil Bronzer is more neutral and brown. Skinny Dip is completely matte. Packaging on these are slim, making it easy to travel with. This bronzer retails for $24usd for 0.3 oz ($80usd for 1 oz).

The bareMinerals Lash Domination Mascara claims to do 10 things in 1. I can only find 5 of those claims which are as follows: volumizing, lengthening, thickening, separating, and long-wearing. Either way, I don't think it does much volumizing. Long-wearing is a no-go on my watery eyes. It smudges on the lower lash line after a few yawns. It doesn't look bad if I have a smokey eye going on but on my bare eyes, the panda look isn't cute. However, it does an amazing job of lengthening and separating my lashes with just one coat. The mascara is quite an intense black, much blacker than most drugstore mascaras I've tried. I think the nature of mascara thickens lashes as it makes them more visible but I might be understanding that wrongly. The brush is quite interesting as it is a spiral; the design helps separate the lashes and pick up every lash. Instead of whacking my mascara on in an up and down manner, I spin the brush against my lashes and that gives them the best look. The brush is small enough so that I don't get mascara onto my eyelids. I still have to be a bit careful as when I'm not as attentive, I still whack my upper eyelid a bit. Not completely unwieldy though. Would be a favorite if it was water resistant. It doesn't smu
dge on my oily eyelids but I do a lot of prep beforehand like dusting with a powder to absorb excess oil and applying an eye primer to control the oil. Packaging is also very pretty with the spiral wand that mimics the brush.

Compared to my favorite Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara, it lengthens a bit more and does a better job of separating my lashes. Kind of reminds me of a silver Twizzler xD Each mascara retails for $18usd for 0.37 fl oz ($48.65 usd per oz).

UNBOXING┊ bareMinerals Beauty & the Beach Sephora Beauty Insider Box 500 points, marvelous moxie lipgloss, party starter, review and swatches
I've raved about the bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in a previous post so I won't go on too much about it here. I originally had three shades, picked up two more, and now this one popped up, rounding my total to 6. I dislike lipglosses but these are pigmented enough, sticky but not gloopy, and smell really yummy--like mint chocolate chip ice cream! The applicator is a pointed sponge tip so it's quite easy to get a precise line. This doesn't emphasize lip lines but I don't expect lip glosses to do so. Party Starter is a pretty coral with a cream finish--no sparkles or glitter whatsoever. It's not completely opaque but covers up enough of my lip color. Color fades after eating or ~3 hours but the moisture sticks around for an additional 2-3 hours. Described as a fiery coral shade, it isn't as vibrant as I expected but it is still a lovely color for summer (but I would wear this everyday, especially on days I need something to brighten my complexion). Each lipgloss will set you back $18usd for 0.15oz ($120usd per oz).

⇥ OTHER THOUGHTS ⇤

The look below is a compilation of all the products in this box on my face. You can't really see the bronzer or blush but I was heading out to class and didn't want to look like a clown. I could've blotted my oily face but I thought the "glow" fit in with the summer theme xD I took these pictures a long time ago and don't remember what I used on my face but it's probably the usual suspects: Revlon Brow Fantasy and my DIY tinted moisturizer (along with the products in this box).

⇥ BOTTOM LINE ⇤

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the box. Though the Lash Domination Mascara was a dud for me, I'm glad I got a chance to try it out. I have a full sized version and a mini version that I know can go on to better homes now. Everything else will be getting use from me, such as the Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss and the All-Over Face Color. I wouldn't buy the full size of the All-Over Face Color but this sample would probably last a long time anyway. The READY Bronzer is pretty but I have so many that I probably wouldn't repurchase anytime in the near future. Same goes for the READY Blush. While I don't have any that are exactly like this, I just have waay too many blushes to consider buying back ups of anything. The lip gloss is pretty but it reminds me of a L'Oreal Color Riche Balm that serves the same purpose for me without the stickiness and expensive price tag.
