Not the most glamourous background but it'll do xD

With 20% off at Sephora, temptation was too great and I picked up a few things I was interested in. As you can see, I restrained myself to 4 items so this will be quick! Reviews for some of the items are forthcoming :D I forgot to photograph the Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer - Collector's Edition in Midnight in Paris but the long and short of it is that I liked the dark, almost black color and the application but the shine wore off way too quickly for me and chipped sooner than I'd expect from a $24usd bottle of polish, even though I used my usual base and top coat.

First up, the Smashbox Full Exposure Travel Palette! I've heard many good things about the full-size so I decided to pick up the smaller one to see how it performs. The colors are fairly neutral, everyday basics. The range and depth of colors is also good so you can build contrast to avoid a muddled look. Similar to the Lorac Pro Palette, half are shimmer and the other half is matte. A more detailed review is now live so head on over to that post for more info!

My first luxury eyeshadow palette that I paid for with my own money :) The shadows in the Marc Jacobs Style Icon Lolita Palette are pigmented but blendable, buttery smooth with little fall out, and they last a long time on my eye! I do use eye primer but sometimes, shadow crease or lose color throughout the day. They basically blended themselves; I didn't have to bring in an extra blending brush like I usually do. Packaging also felt luxurious and durable. It's thin and the mirror is big enough to see what you're doing during eye makeup so it's good for travel. The outer is prone to showing fingerprints, which I'm not a fan of but it does come with a snug pouch for easy travel. There are 3 mattes, 1 glitter, and 3 shimmer shades. The mattes won my heart completely because they didn't make my eyes look crepe-y or wrinkly and the shimmer shadows did not irritate my sensitive eyes--a major bonus. The glittery, light rose gold color was a bit chunky so using a finger to apply helps prevent it from ending up all over your face. Shade 5 is quite interesting. It looks like a creamy beige color in the pan but on the eyes, it looks cotton candy pink! I have some shade comparisons below to two other shadows that have a similar effect down below. Though the shadows are wonderful, I ended up returning it because it was so basic--the colors are easily dupeable and for me, having too many neutral eye palettes isn't something I wanted.

becca beach tint shimmer souffle in raspberry/opal

Products that are multipurpose and can give me a glow are becoming a favorite of mine this year so I've been meaning to give one of the Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Souffles a try. I ended up choosing Raspberry/Opal because I thought the color combination would be perfect for fall and winter. It's not as raspberry/plummy as I was expecting due to the extensive gold veining but it does give a very light and natural glowy flush. It's a bit too sheer to be used as blush on my light-medium skin tone but if I layer it three times, I can get a very nice coral sheen that does look like the model's skin in magazines. I have only used a brush to apply it thus far so fingers may make it more pigmented. The glow factor is a bit much for me everyday but it just looks so pretty. I tried taking pictures of it on my face but you can't see the color or the glow with my crappy point-and-shoot camera so you'll just have to take my word for it! It lasts a fairly long time on my skin (or at least, the sheen does). This is one of the darker shades in the 6 shade range so I wouldn't recommend this as a blusher for darker skin tones.

I had some points saved up so I decided to grab these two perks. I've heard good things about Dior mascaras so I thought this is a good introduction in the form of the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara. Apparently, it's good at volumizing and curling, two departments that my wimpy lashes are missing in. The Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Super Strawberry. I haven't really done much other than swatch it so I can't say much. It's quite sheer and slightly buildable. It comes in a twist up chubby lip pencil form and was one of the first, if not the first, to do so. I think it's a bit too bright for winter but with spring on the way, this will be perfect!

sephora make up for ever birthday perks 2014

Last but not least, the birthday month perk! My birthday is in November and since I'm VIB Rouge, in addition to the MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Natural in N9 and the MUFE Smoky Extravagant Mascara, I also received a complimentary MUFE Aqua Eyes in 0L.  I like the eyeliner well enough since it's one of the only ones that stay put in my upper tightline and doesn't smudge on me hooded eyes. The lipstick is a my lips but better color for me and lasts a decent amount of time through meals. It fades evenly and since it's so close to my natural lip color, the fading issue is unnoticeable.

Not sure what the leftmost shade is but the MUFE is the middle and the Clinique is the rightmost one

And that concludes my haul! It's quite small one but I ended up returning 2 of the 4 items. Guilt nags at me when I do a return but I need to do them more instead of having the product sit there untouched and unloved. I wasn't entirely satisfied with the Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle or the Smashbox Full Exposure Travel Palette either but I had thrown the packaging away already and couldn't return it--just means I'll have to find a way to make it work!

Have any of you hauled anything lately?
I'd love to hear what you got!

XOXO,

MWAH ♥
