PRODUCT SMACKDOWN | BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick vs Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color vs Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick

I haven't done a Product Smackdown in a long while so this is much overdue. Finding dupes of high end products in a more affordable brand makes me excited and my wallet happier. I've never really been a pink lipstick kind of girl so I was mightily surprised when I found three lipsticks in similar colors in my collection.

Product Smackdown Bobbi Brown BareMinerals Rimmel London Swatches lipstick

--AT A GLANCE--

As I mentioned before, pink colors aren't my first pick when it comes to lip color. Recently, however, I've been gravitating towards pink for a softer, romantic look to complement my Naked 3 Palette (didn't bring it with me this trip but I still like it).

BareMinerals Marvelous Lipstick in Speak Your Mind, Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color in Pale Mauve, and Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in Airy Fairy are quite similar in terms of color but will their similarities end there?

--THE BREAKDOWN--

The BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick is creamy and pigmented that glides on for full coverage in a satin finish. Formulated with Abyssinian Oil and omega fatty acids, this lipstick makes lips supple and smooth. Vitamin A, C and E provides antioxidant defense for a well-rounded lipstick that will prepare you for anything! Contains 0.12 fl oz (3.5mL) for $18 USD ($138.46 USD for 1 oz).

Bobbi Brown's Creamy Lip Color "combines rich color with comfortable, long-lasting wear and a soft, creamy shine. With emollient shea butter and plant-derived skin conditioners, this amazing formula glides on smooth, wears all day, and leaves lips soft and moisturized." Creamy Lip Color has 0.13 oz (3.8 g) for $25 USD ($192.31 USD for 1 oz).

The Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick packs incredible pigment and delivers 8 hours of soft, smooth, and comfortable wear. These lipsticks will set you back $5.49 USD for 0.14 oz in each tube ($35.64 USD for 1 oz).

--BM MARVELOUS MOXIE LIPSTICK--
I've tried a couple of the Marvelous Moxie Lipglosses before and I quite like those. I got this in a Sephora order and decided to go through all my samples before I buy anything full size. Speak Your Mind is described as a blushing pink. To me, it's more of a Baker-Miller pink with no shimmers. This is the warmest pink out of the three. The color was lighter than what I'm used to but it didn't wash me out. The brightness actually warmed up my complexion and made my lips look innocent, if that makes any sense...

Application is smooth and opaque in one swipe--a first for me. It doesn't dry my lips out. This formula doesn't settle into my lip lines, making my lips look smoother and plumper. Wears well for about 4 hours with light eating and drinking, though I apply a lip balm or just this lip color over to put the moisture back in. The thing that's nice about this lipstick is that it wears off evenly, leaving an even stain on my lips. After eating, the shine wears away but the color is still passable. I just like to reapply for the plump lip look. This lipstick has the most shine and pigment out the three. I don't find it migrating out of my lip lines either. For people with dry and peeling lips, this lipstick camouflages that condition the best out of the three; I reach for this the most when my lips aren't in a good condition but I need a quick swipe of color. The scent is a sweet vanilla that is noticeable as you're applying but doesn't linger on the lips. Might be off-putting to sensitive noses but it doesn't bother me too much.

--BOBBI BROWN CREAMY LIPCOLOR--
I have one other Bobbi Brown lipstick in this range that I really love. Pale Mauve is the most matte out of the three but I wouldn't call it a straight matte. The formula is creamy and doesn't dry out my lips after a whole day of wear and reapplication. Pigmentation isn't bad but it's sheerer than the other two; it does leave a slight stain. It is cooler than both Speak Your Mind and Airy Fairy. Pale Mauve is the lightest of the three shades. This is really great for looks that require a nude lip that isn't beige, a nude lip that even I can pull off. It has a slightly spicy smell, kind of like Thai basil. The scent on Pale Mauve makes it a deal breaker for me but I'm not sure if that's how all of the lipsticks smell. I have another one from this range so I'm going to give it a sniff and update you when I go back home

Wear time is decent. After eating ribs and some fish, the color is still there and I didn't need to reapply. My lips still feel moisturized and it's been 3 hours since I ate lunch. My lips look a little dry up close, like 3 inches away, but they don't feel dry and peel-y.

I couldn't find the ingredients list anywhere as I threw the original packaging away T_T

--RL LASTING FINISH LIPSTICK--
I have a full review on this lipstick here. To recap, the Lasting Finish Lipstick is smooth and opaque in two swipes. Airy Fairy has good lasting power but I feel my lips getting dry after 4 hours of wear--make sure to bring lip gloss or lip balm to add the moisture back in. This shade seems slightly more mauve than Pale Mauve and Speak Your Mind. Airy Fairy has a tendency to wash me out if I don't wear any other makeup on my face so I don't really gravitate towards it for everyday, simple makeup wear. I do however, love it when I wear a daytime smokey color and don't want to wear a straight up nude shade (those still give me a hard time but I'm gradually getting used to it).

Product Smackdown Bobbi Brown BareMinerals Rimmel London Swatches lipstick
Pale Mauve and Airy Fairy appear more pink-y nude on my lips, while Speak Your Mind appears baby pink and not nude

--THE BOTTOM LINE--
Speak Your Mind is my favorite out of the three. It is moisturizing yet long lasting. Of course, staying power isn't anywhere near a stain and I do have to reapply after eating, but if I happen to not reapply, I won't have a weird lip liner outline. The color is perfect for Spring and everyday, innocent looks. At $18 USD a pop, this would be a splurge but I think the color and formula is different enough from the other two to warrant a full size.

Airy Fairy and Pale Mauve are quite similar on many fronts. Color and lasting power is practically the same. Pale Mauve is more matte than Airy Fairy and Airy Fairy is slightly more pigmented but putting those differences aside, they are quite comparable. If you are interested in the Pale Mauve, try Airy Fairy first.
