So today, I'm going to review Rimmel's Show Off Lip Lacquers (or Apocalips as they're known in Europe). These are some of the best lip products in my opinion! They are pigmented and long-lasting and come at a budget-friendly price, which is a plus in my book! I have six out of the fourteen available shades here in the U.S. They come in a variety of finishes from cream to glitter. These Lip Lacquers also come in a range of shades and undertones, from nudes and pinks to deeper mauves and reds--you'll definitely find your shade!

The formula is amazing. They are very pigmented--you only need to go over once for full color. It isn't drying like a stain but not exactly moisturizing as a lip gloss. I'd describe these as a liquid lipstick, lip stain, and lip gloss hybrid. They go on very pigmented but as the shiny part wears off throughout the day, they leave behind a stain--which also wears off by the end of the night. On my lips, they last a good 6 hours but there is considerable fading, especially with the lighter colors, after eating. The darker colors stain better and I can still see it after eating. The great thing about these is that it fades evenly.

The wand is also pretty interesting because it looks like a typical doe foot wand BUT it has a well that holds quite a considerable amount of product. You won't need to dip a second time to get more product--one swipe and you're good to go!

I love the packaging on these because you can definitely tell if someone has tampered with these products. I'm not sure if it's clear from the pictures above but there's a empty space when you slightly pull the wand out. When you completely pull the wand out, there's a stopper then removes most of the lip product from the wand, depositing it in that clear space. There's no way to empty that space again so if you find that yours is full, you'll know someone has opened it before.  The wand is also shaped like a jewel, which these definitely are! The black ombre down the tube is also a nice touch.

These products are very versatile! You can go full on with the color, but for everyday, I like to dab two or three times on my lips and use my finger to evenly distribute the color for a softer look. This greatly increases their longevity and they act more like a stain that a gloss. I like to top with lip balm or gloss throughout the day to keep my lips moisturized. I've also used them as an impromptu blush when I didn't have any--go VERY, VERY lightly because they are super pigmented. One dab on each cheek was enough color for me.

It does have a scent that reminds me of these smoothies my mom used to make for me when I was younger. It also reminds me of Tide's Sport High Efficiency Laundry Detergent with Febreze. The best way I can describe the smell is fruity but the Tide detergent smells exactly like these Lip Lacquers--which may be troubling for some but personally, I love the scent. The smell does go away after a while though, so if you aren't a fan of the scent, it will dissipate

They come in a variety of finishes, from cream to glitter but I only tried the cream finishes because glitter is not something I like in my lip products. I have Luna, Celestial, Aurora, Stellar, Apocaliptic, and Big Bang. My personal favorites are Luna, Celestial, and Aurora, especially when I sheer them out. Luna is basically a light peachy color that looks great over Aurora, a bright medium pink. I'm not a fan of nude lips but I like using Luna to tone down the intensity of the other colors. Celestial is a light mauve-pink color that is very close to my own lip color. I love it because it adds a bit more pink to my lips, brightening my complexion. Stellar is a super bright cherry pink, great for those who love to make an entrance. Apocaliptic is a dark magenta color with silver sparkles that aren't noticeable on the lips.
Finally, Big Bang is a deeper red, perfect for the upcoming holidays. I love their names, especially Luna and Big Bang (brownie points if you know why!) since their performance is out of this world!

I definitely recommend picking them up if you can. In the U.S., they seem to be available only at Walgreen's for $4.99. Walgreen's is also having a 20% sale online so grab them for a reduced price while you can!

XOXO,
